Virginia Space Flight Academy receives $25,000 from the Bahethi Family Foundation for 20 Space Adventure Camp Scholarships
Wallops Island, Virginia 6/07/23 — This year, the Virginia Space Flight Academy (VASFA) is celebrating the 25th anniversary of Space Adventure Camp. In recognition of the milestone, the Bahethi Family Foundation (BFF), a distinguished philanthropic organization, generously donated $25,000 to support scholarships for local students. With an unwavering commitment to advancing, supporting, and empowering quality education in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), the Bahethi Family Foundation’s donation will fund 20 full scholarships to the esteemed Virginia Space Flight Academy’s Space Adventure Camp.
Recognizing the significance of STEM education in shaping the future of scientific innovation and technological progress, the Bahethi Family Foundation partnered with VASFA, a leading institution devoted to inspiring and educating young minds in space science and aerospace. Together, they aim to provide students with a transformative summer experience.
Scholarships will be awarded through established partnerships in Virginia’s Accomack and Northampton Counties and Maryland’s Somerset and Wicomico Counties. Partners include Accomack County Public Schools, Northampton County Public Schools, Somerset County’s Young Elites of the Eastern Shore West to East Coast Aviation Network, and Wicomico County’s Fruitland Community Center. “We are so excited about this news! This is an incredible opportunity for local youth,” says Alexis Dashield, Director of the Fruitland Community Center.
The Bahethi Family Foundation’s donation will comprehensively cover the expenses for the selected students, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder their educational opportunities. These scholarships empower aspiring young scientists, engineers, and space enthusiasts to engage in immersive, hands-on learning, technology exploration, and real-world simulations, all under the guidance of experienced mentors and instructors.
“It’s wonderful when a nonprofit is matched with a philanthropic organization whose mission aligns so closely. We are ecstatic about our new partnership with the Bahethi Family Foundation. We are deeply grateful for their donation of $25,000 for our 25th anniversary and are excited to expand our experiences to new Space Adventure Campers,” says Kim Check, Executive Director. The Virginia Space Flight Academy offers diverse programs designed to ignite students’ passion for space exploration, aerospace, and STEM disciplines. With the Bahethi Family Foundation (BFF) support, VASFA will expand its reach and extend an unparalleled opportunity for students to explore their interests and nurture their talents.
The Bahethi Family Foundation’s (BFF) dedication to education and STEM fields is commendable, as it continues to create a profound impact on the lives of individuals. Through their donation to VASFA, the foundation not only invests in the future of scientific exploration but also ensures that talented students are granted the opportunity to pursue their dreams in the world of STEM.
