Area: Lower Shore

About

Come be a part of our live audience, when Another View travels to Virginia’s Eastern Shore to this important historic site. See for yourself how this community restored the 96 year old Cape Charles Rosenwald School!

This historic building opened its’ doors in 1929, in the midst of segregation. It was nicknamed by the students as “the school over the hump” because of the hill they had to climb to get there. And like more than five thousand schools – across 15 states, it sprung from a partnership between educator, Booker T. Washington and philanthropist, Julius Rosenwald. As a result of this collaboration, about one-third of America’s Black children were able to receive an education.

Over the years, many of the schools were torn down, but some communities like Cape Charles chose to save their school and transform it into a place that the community can be proud to utilize. Be sure to reserve your seat today for Another View’s live broadcast from the newly renovated auditorium of the Cape Charles Rosenwald School.

It all happens Thursday, August 6th | Doors open at 11am, Please plan to be seated by 11:30amThe live broadcast starts at 12pm noon! See you there!
