Join us in Cape Charles for a powerful and inspiring Juneteenth Community Celebration honoring African American history, freedom, culture, and community during the 250th Anniversary of the United States.
This special event will highlight the enduring contributions of African Americans to the American story through education, art, remembrance, and celebration. Designed to engage all generations, the day will feature three signature experiences: a historical lecture program, an outdoor community celebration, and a live art exhibition.

Patriots of Color & Their Eastern Shore Roots Lecture

Join genealogists and historians Tyrone Goodwyn, Luke Alexander, and Kevin Eugene Graham for a compelling presentation exploring Revolutionary Era Patriots of Color and their deep connections to Virginia’s Eastern Shore as part of America’s 250th Anniversary commemoration.
Outdoor Juneteenth Community Celebration

Presented by Virginia Black Lifestyle Magazine, this vibrant community gathering will feature:
• Reading of General Order No. 3
• “Lift Every Voice and Sing” – Black National Anthem
• Northampton Public Schools Student Art Exhibit
• Live DJ entertainment and community fellowship

Featuring a special live art installation and exhibition by Cape Charles Elementary alumnus Richard Press. This family-friendly celebration offers an opportunity to reflect on our shared history, honor the resilience and achievements of African Americans, and celebrate the continuing journey toward freedom, equality, and justice. Bring your family, invite your friends, and join us for an unforgettable day of history, creativity, reflection, and joy.
