Flags waving, golf carts rolling, and fireworks lighting up the sky! Independence Day on Virginia’s Eastern Shore is packed with tradition and small-town charm. From Chincoteague to Cape Charles, here’s where to celebrate ESVA-style this 4th of July weekend.

🇺🇸 Chincoteague
Family Non‑Motorized Parade: Friday, July 4 at 10 AM around Robert Reed Park. Hosted by the Island Library. Rain or shine, no motorized vehicles; prizes & refreshments after
Carnival & Fireworks: the 100th annual Chincoteague Volunteer Fireman's Carnival runs June 27 to July 5, nightly 7–10 PM, with an Old Fashioned Fireworks Show on Friday, July 4th at 9PM (time may be adjusted dependent on weather. Rain date July 5th)
Know before you go: Parking will be limited at the carnival grounds. For your safety and enjoyment, you are asked to use The Pony Express trolley service which will be FREE during this event. Trolley stops are located throughout the island with a stop at the back of the carnival grounds. Also, a free shuttle bus from the Chincoteague High School will go directly to the carnival grounds.

🇺🇸 Accomac
Non‑Motorized Parade: Friday, July 4 at 10 AM. Line‑up along Front Street at 24010, procession to courthouse green, then popsicles and live music
4th of July BBQ: Drummondtown Baptist Church will be hosting its 21st annual BBQ during the parade along Front Street

🇺🇸 Onancock
Ice Cream Social & Patriotic Band Concert: Thursday, July 3 from 5:30–7:30 PM at the Historic Onancock School. Hosted by Onancock Business and Civic Association, the community will enjoy free ice cream, Accomac Community Band, Kelly the Clown & hot dogs
July 4 Parade & Street Fair: Parade starts at 10 AM (Bay Ave → Mason & Peach), street fair, cornhole and basketball tournament follow. Dunk tank 12-5PM.
Vendors & Music: Craft vendors along Bay Ave until ~4 PM, food until 9PM. Live music throughout the day on the pavilion
The Sandlot movie at the Palace Theater 2-4PM
Fireworks on the Beach: After dark on July 4 (~9:15PM); rain date is July 5
Free Concert in the Park: TFC Band & Show Saturday, July 5th at 7PM
