Witty banter. Romantic avoidance/denial. Experience one of Shakespeare’s most beloved comedies, “Much Ado About Nothing”, outdoors under the stars in the beautiful, spacious Exmore Town Park. This popular classic presents a merry look at preconceived notions of love and marriage. Set in idyllic Messina, the play and the fun begin at the villa of the kindly nobleman, Leonato, when a group of soldiers return triumphant from war only to enter into a different type of conflict---one involving lovers, betrothal, distain for romantic love and the challenges of fidelity and trust.
The action centers on the lively skirmishes between Beatrice and Benedict, who disavow love and marriage, and the dastardly deceptions that threaten the love between one of the returning soldiers, Claudio and Leonato’s only daughter, Hero. After much trickery, deceit and masquerading, the play ends happily with two marriages, and much dancing.
This delightful full-length professional production, featuring the talented troupe from Boston's Brown Box Theatre, is Exmore's 4th presentation of Free Shakespeare in the Park, an entertaining, popular family-friendly event that attracts audiences from throughout the region, across the #757 area, up and down the ESVA and beyond. Everyone is invited. Just bring a lawn chair or blanket. Picnic baskets welcome.
