Five Cozy Places to Stay on Virginia’s Eastern Shore

When the weather gets chilly there’s nothing like escaping to a cozy retreat for a little relaxation. Virginia’s Eastern Shore is far from the hustle and bustle of city life. It’s easy to slow down here.

This list is filled with places that are comfy and inviting either because of their small size or amenities like fireplaces and Jacuzzi tubs.

Curl up with a good book, bundle up for a walk on the beach or some bird watching and then warm up by a fire or raid the local seafood grocer and gourmet market and whip up a feast in a vacation rental. Winter won’t seem so dark and cold after a stay in one of these cozy abodes.

1. The Little Red House, Accomac

What could be cozier than a tiny house? The Little Red House is just 225 square feet, but it’s packed with quirky charm and surrounded by the natural beauty of farm fields, marshes and a creek. The central location of the cottage makes it a great base camp for trips up and down Virginia’s Eastern Shore.

Lounge by the fire pit overlooking the water, cook fresh eggs from the owner’s chicken coop and eat breakfast on the patio or launch a kayak from the boat ramp just up the road. For a little added romance, if you book in January or February you’ll find a bottle of champagne and chocolates on your pillow when you arrive.
